Connect to your VPS via SSH

SSH is how you log into your server's command line. It takes about a minute. You'll need two things from your dashboard and your root password.

1. Find your connection details

In the dashboard, go to Cloud VPS → your server. The overview shows your host IP address and your SSH port, and the exact command to copy.

Two things people miss: your SSH port is not 22 — it's a higher number we assign (for example 20036) — and you log in as the root user.

2. Connect

Mac & Linux — open Terminal and run (swap in your IP and port):

ssh root@YOUR_IP -p YOUR_PORT

Windows 10/11 — open PowerShell (or Windows Terminal) and run the same command:

ssh root@YOUR_IP -p YOUR_PORT

Prefer a GUI? PuTTY works too: put your IP in Host Name, your SSH port in Port, click Open, then log in as root.

The first time, you'll be asked to trust the server's fingerprint — type yes. Then enter your root password (the screen stays blank as you type — that's normal). You're in.

Forgot your password?

Reset it any time from the dashboard: Cloud VPS → your server → Settings → Reset root password. The new password is shown once, so save it somewhere safe.

“Connection refused” or “timed out”?

Work through these in order — one of them is almost always it:

  • Using the right port? It must be your assigned SSH port, not 22. Double-check it on the VPS overview.
  • Is the server running? If it's stopped or suspended, start it (or clear any pending dues) first.
  • Worked before, stopped today? Our platform re-checks and repairs SSH access automatically every few minutes — wait a moment and try again. If it's still down after that, open a ticket and we'll fix it fast.
  • On a restricted network? Some office/college firewalls block outbound SSH. Try a different network or use the browser Console from the VPS page as a fallback.
Next: open a port to reach an app you're running, or enable HTTPS for your website.
